Nowadays internal communication is more than just sending messages to the entire organization, the exchange of ideas and information should be present inside every corporation. In order to improve every business activities in any business environment, clear communication between employer and employees is a must. As web 2.0 philosophy its all about being communicated and collaborating, using 2.0 tools inside business enterprises is strongly recommended by specialists.
As we’ve seen there are four principal values supporting that philosophy, let’s see some tips for communicating effectively with your employees on a 2.0 way!
Engagement
Feedback keeps everybody alert.
Regular feedback of everyone’s work or performance is the key. This makes them sure that their work is important and is being checked by someone. That way they will try to perform even better to keep you satisfied and earn whatever they want to achieve. But to make this work, you have to give them the chance to speak about what they are working on. Offer your help, ask if they feel comfortable with their jobs.
Open Dialog
Don’t be just an email address.
Although emails are a great communication tool, people behind them should get to know each others, know how they feel about certain matters, how they think and how to get to them. If meeting your employees is not an option, due to geographical issues, you should at least call them and talk directly, or connect by any 2.0 tool. You don’t have to agree with them, just let them express their selves. If they don’t communicate with you it will result in much trouble as the employee may keep it aside with him/her. You must be efficient in communicating not only to individuals but also to a group. If you don’t get involved well you will lose credibility as an employer.
Collaboration
Encourage participation.
Human capital must be identified and empowered in a meaningful way in order for it to be accessed, shared, and leveraged for competi- tive advantage.Give your employees the opportunity and a propitious environment to share their knowledge. In order to reach this objective you can set goals with rewards- a friendly competition on collaboration efforts, can greatly increase productivity. When employee teams race for a goal, let’s say free movie tickets, encourages friendly competition and puts back a small drive of getting ahead. The title of “winner” may be motivating enough to move mountains.
Transparency
Inspire.
Last (but not least) you have to make sure to show a humanized corporation even for your employees, explain why and how things are or will be done. Let them be part of your decisions, understand the human factor behind them. Encourage them to talk any problem or explain his/her ideas to you. If you don’t show yourself as a good listener they won’t open to you. Remember that by creating a light, pleasant, cooperative and positive working atmosphere, you will build up your own corporate culture , creating a humanized enterprise and with employees enjoying the warmth like at home.
