Elgg’s word is spreading all over the world!

The day arrived and the first Elgg Meetup took place at London last week!
Under Laura Gill’s organization and using the hashtag #LdnElggMeet, Elgg’s fans from the UK had a great evening sharing knowledge, experiences and questions on Elgg.

When we asked Laura about what motivated her to organize the meet up she told us “The company I work for, Surevine, have been working with Elgg since we first started 3 years ago. As the Elgg community is still small, I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for developers and users to come together and share their experiences.

The main piece of this event was probably the video participation of Cash Costello, one of Elgg’s core developers. You can feel you were there taking a look at it here!

As Laura also said to us: “Meeting other developers for the first time, and watching the online networking and sharing since the event has been the thing I am most proud of” this is the main idea on ElggMeetups, growing from getting to know better each one of us and inviting new people to our meetings.

On the London Elgg Meetup site, you will find all the presentations, but in order to avoid you the trouble, here we have embed them! :)
Hope you enjoy the show!

ElggCamp Stgo: De cómo llegar a Chile.

Nuestras felicitaciones e incondicional apoyo!

B2C… connecting with the audience.

As technology has advanced so much in the last few years, making a program for B2C is easier to visualize. But this kind of programs still relies on a close understanding and relationship with consumers, which can be one of the biggest obstacles to brands trying to repeat other brands campaign success. Through Social Media a brand can generate an open interaction platform that relies on the collective intelligence of most passionate consumers to decide the strategy of the brand and the direction of future innovations. Brands should be looking to go beyond crowdsourcing by incorporating a large amount of community marketing and branding efforts into a bigger strategy. Look at this as a new opportunity to explore and connect with the brand’s passionate fans.

When it comes to social media and a brands connection with it’s audience, the most important thing is to not be afraid to put your brand out there. For your consumers is important to get to know the brand by being honest and transparent and engage in dialogue that results in mutual understanding and connection, as it is for you to hear what they have to say.

The idea is to move forward crowdsourcing to a different place where you can work hand-in-hand with your most loyal fans on all aspects of new product development. This kind of programs main idea is to harness the passion, interest and know-how of the product’s fans to collaborate and co-create products and campaigns that are owned and embraced by both the customers and the brand. Campaigns like this usually comprehend online communities like Facebook, Youtube or Vimeo, Twitter, and a variety of ways to vote and comment, allowing users to participate. But to generate full engagement with brand’s fans de development of a social network of it’s own is one of the greater solutions. It will allow your brand to integrate offline and online experiences, participate in a dialogue by creating a space for it to take part, customize experiences for each client, create a brand culture, study attitudes, perceptions and behavior; and educate brand evangelists and engaged customers.

B2C… Social Customer Service.

‘A dance floor Interaction’

As we have analized at the ElggCamp Buenos Aires, Elgg offers a unique opportunity for organizations to quickly move forward in a social-networking website creation that can also serve as a new space for customer service interaction. Bringing your customers closer and getting to know them helps companies provide a higher quality service. What better place to enter their conversation than on the Internet?

In many ways, an enterprise could delegate custom service calls to an online social networking site, in which prospects, customers, and service representatives could interact within the instantly way of today’s digital landscape. Customer Service representatives could gather support and feedback in real-time from customers all around the globe, providing the organization with a great demonstration of customer service effectiveness.

In this case, reps would be given personalized profiles with their strengths and interests highlights; customers are also invited to become community members to gather their perspective, suggestions, ideas and as much as they wish to the collective knowledge-base on a wiki page feed by all the network users.

Not only communication among customers and customer service reps will be more fluid but also, into a social network the Firm would be able to publish regularly updated manuals, trainings, answers and any further information to add more value and obtain greater effect on brand engagement.

In the end, this development will provide the infrastructure to harness as much of the potential energy possible between both parties, usually lost during traditional telephone conversations.

Applying a social network platform would transform the two-way highway that stands between a service representative and a customer via the phone line into a dance floor of individuals who will learn to interact with each other through comments, wiki, chat, messaging and databased information improving the brand experience.
